LINDOS
Our fourth stop on our mini cruise of the Greek Isles was the island of Rhodes. Since we were in port here for an entire day, we took the opportunity to visit Lindos, a picturesque village on the east coast with pebble-covered streets and whitewashed houses clustered beneath an acropolis. We spent some time visiting the famous archaeological site and then meandered around the village, stopping for shopping here and there, before we caught our bus back to the port town.
Adventures: Lindos Acropolis, Byzantine Panagia Church
Memorable Moments: 1) The panoramic views from the acropolis. 2) Meandering around the village. 3) Donkeys!
Takeaways: 1) We should have learned by now that all the temples were built on elevated ground and require some uphill hiking to visit. 2) Donkeys seem like unpredictable creatures.
Recommendations: 1) Visit the Acropolis early in the day to avoid the crowds. 2) Be prepared for a decent hike to the archaeological site. 3) Bring water, sunglasses, and sunblock.
Next Time: We'd love to spend more time exploring the village, eating at the cafes, and just enjoying this place. The beach looked like a nice place to hang out in the summer months.
