HOLA, PUERTO VALLARTA!

We took a little trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico last week to celebrate our five year anniversary and escape from reality for a few days. We've been to this destination before, but with the current seaweed problem in the Caribbean, it made sense to travel to the Pacific coast and revisit the place that started our travel addiction.

We spent our time in Puerto Vallarta at our resort, relaxing by the pool and taking full advantage of its all inclusive amenities. We managed to take a few strolls along the beach each morning and capture some beautiful sunsets in the evening. A few photos and takeaways below!

Destination: Puerto Vallarta | Mexico

Memorable Moments: watching baby sea turtles be released into the ocean (check out a short video on our Instagram HERE!), drinking piƱa coladas in the infinity pool, kayaking in the ocean, listening to the sound of the waves hitting the beach!

^^ baby sea turtles! ^^

Takeaways: 1) The resort is nearly empty mid-week since the locals tend to visit Friday through Sunday. 2) Ignore the weather forecasts when they say it's thunderstorming all week. 3) Dress codes differ between resorts. 4) The airline baggage policy might not be the same as it was 6 years ago.

Recommendations: 1) The USD is still accepted currency, but know the exchange rate since prices are typically quoted in pesos. 2) Brush up on basic Spanish phrases, mostly because the effort is appreciated. 3) Hang onto your stamped tourist card. You'll need it for your return flight home.

Special packing considerations: bug spray, anti-itch cream for bug bites, water shoes, sunblock, aloe vera, medication for upset stomach and indigestion, pool floats (we were jealous of the genius people who brought these floats with them)

Next time: We STILL have yet to check out the town! We also heard the snorkeling should not be missed.
